What is FERC Docket?
A FERC docket is the public case file for a matter before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, interconnection agreements, LNG terminal authorizations, transmission rates, and pipeline certificates. Every filing, protest, and order in a docket is public and searchable. For projects in FERC's jurisdiction, the docket is the authoritative record of whether a project is advancing, delayed, or dead.
Interstate pipelines, LNG terminals and gas storage need FERC approval, and every case has a docket number. A CP docket is the certificate application itself; a PF docket is the pre-filing review that often starts a year or more earlier. The docket holds the application, environmental reports, agency comments and FERC's schedule.
For BD teams, the schedule notice is the key document: FERC publishes the dates for the environmental review and the final decision, which bound when construction can start. The application also names the project company, the route or site and the major facilities, such as compressor stations and marine berths.
